The Regional Government Council has approved, through Resolution no. 132/2026, the signing of a program contract with the Casa do Povo da Ponta do Sol. This financial support is intended to subsidize the costs inherent to the organization of the Regional Sugarcane and Derivatives Fair, which takes place during 2026.
The measure aims to value the economic and cultural importance that sugarcane cultivation holds for the municipality of Ponta do Sol and the Autonomous Region of Madeira, recognizing the fundamental role of private non-profit institutions in promoting traditions and rural development.
The Regional Secretary of Agriculture and Fisheries has been mandated to sign the aforementioned program contract, with the necessary funds for the execution of this initiative duly registered in the budget of the respective Regional Secretariat.
